Match Report: ROUNDS drop to lower bracket despite Inferno win

Last night ROUNDS were defeated by Danish opposition XI Esport in the first round of the ESEA Advanced playoffs.

Finland may have won the Ice Hockey World Championship last night, but it was not a full day of success for the Finns. Earlier on in the evening ROUNDS suffered a 1-2 loss to XI Esport and fell down to the lower bracket of the ESEA Advanced Season 57 Europe Playoffs.

Despite having practiced Anubis, the Danes’ map pick left a lot to be desired for ROUNDS. Only managing a total of four rounds to XI Esport’s thirteen on the opening map, we never really looked competitive on it. Our pick of Inferno however, completely flipped the script to our favour, as we marched through 13-6. Unfortunately for ROUNDS, Dust2 ended in heartbreak, as despite an early lead we fell 9-13 on the decider.

What’s next for ROUNDS is naturally the lower bracket. This one is the last chance though, backs against the wall, as another loss would mean that our playoffs are over and done with. Tincan is a familiar foe from previous endeavours, and we’ll face them yet again as the default time has been set on Wednesday, the 3rd of June, at 20:30 EEST (subject to change). You can expect to see a comprehensive match preview for that one as well!

I would also like to take a moment to show a huge amount of appreciation to all of our awesome partners and supporters that bring you these playoff matches. We’ll keep the spectacle on for them, and you all, for as long as possible. Thank you!

We aren’t done yet and we know what the job to do is in front of us. Keep pushing!
